Two Rohingyas among four arrested with hemp, yaba

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested four persons including two Rohingya women with 10kgs of hemp and 3,000 yaba pills in Chattogam city yesterday.

The arrestees are Fatema Begum, 37, wife of Sayed Nur; Sayeda Khanam, 35, wife of Mohammad Selim; Ershad Mia, 65; and Nargis Akter, 34, wife of Masud Mia.

Of them, Fatema and Sayeda are from the Rohingya community, said Shamim Ahmed, deputy director (DD) of DNC metro unit.

Rab-7 Media Wing Assistant Director Mashkur Rahman said a Rab team arrested Ershad and Nargis in front of a guest house at Kadamtali in Kotwali area.

Ten kilogrammes of hemp worth Tk 1.3 lakh was seized from their possession, he said.

Shamim Ahmed said Fatema was held with 500 yaba pills in Station Road area.

Another DNC team arrested Sayeda with 2,500 yaba pills in Mariners Road area of Bakalia, said the DD.

The arrestees were sued and handed over to the police stations concerned.
