Two killed in road accidents

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in two districts yesterday.

In Chapainawabganj, motorcycle rider Shahadat Hossain, 18, was killed in Kholsi area of Nachole upazila, reports our correspondent.

The accident took place when a Chapainawabganj-bound truck hit the motorcycle around noon, killing Shahadat on the spot, said Abdul Hannan, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Nachole Police Station.

The truck driver and the helper was arrested and the vehicle was seized, the OC added.

In Faridpur, an unidentified woman was killed in a road accident in Madhukhali bazar area on Dhaka-Khulna Highway around 4:30pm, reports our correspondent.

The accident took place when a sand-laden truck ran her over while she was crossing the highway, said Saiful Alom, sub-inspector of Madhukhali Police Station.

She was declared dead at a local hospital, said the SI. Police seized the truck but the driver fled the scene.
