Two killed, four hurt in pickup-CNG collision

Two fish traders were killed after a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a pick-up van at Titash Upazila on the Gourpur-Homna bound road early yesterday morning.

The deceased are Narayan Das (42) and Lakkhan Chandra Das (45).

Sudhin Chandra Das, officer-in-charge of Titash Police Station, said, "The accident occurred around 4:30am. Both vehicles and the bodies have been recovered, while the injured were rescued."

"Three out of the four injured have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital," the official said.

The injured are Gopal Das (65), Nirmal Das (40), and Baloram Das (28), and driver Kabir Hossain (26).

According to family sources, the deceased were engaged in fish trading at the local bazar. They were on their way to buy fish from wholesale market Gouripur bazar when the accident occurred. Police failed to capture the pick-up driver as he quickly escaped the scene following the incidient.
