Two held with gold, cigarettes, at Ctg airport

Officials of Customs Intelligence in Chattogram held two passengers of a Flydubai  flight, coming from Sharjah, at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport and recovered 294 boxes of foreign cigarettes from one of them and 117gm of raw gold from another yesterday morning.

On information, officials of Customs Intelligence challenged Ziaul Haque (35) and Md Mamun (36) -- arriving from Sharjah -- around 8:30am, said Suman Chakma, deputy director of Customs Intelligence, Chattogram.

He said that officials recovered 294 boxes of foreign cigarettes worth Tk 7.50 lakh from Ziaul’s possession.

Also, 117gm raw gold worth Tk five lakh were seized from Mamun’s possession, the deputy director of Customs Intelligence told The Daily Star.

Further legal action was being taken against the duo, he said.
