Two get death for murder

A Mymensingh court yesterday sentenced two persons to death and two others to three years imprisonment for killing a woman in Ishwarganj upazila in 2003.

Judge Ehsanul Haque of District Special Judge's Court delivered the verdict.

The death-row convicts are Abdul Helim, 58, and Abul Kashem, 56. Abdul Aziz and Khokon Mia got three years jail term, said Inspector Khandaker Jahidul Islam.

According to the prosecution, Marajer Ma was hacked to death by her neighbours over a land dispute on November 3, 2003.

Her son lodged a case accusing 33 persons. Police pressed charges against 29 persons.

The court yesterday acquitted 25 others.
