Two cousins drown in pond

Two children drowned in a pond in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Morium Begum, 7, daughter of Rubel Hossain, and her cousin Monira Begum, 6, daughter of Mokhles Hossain of Purba Uchna village in the upazila.

Quoting family members, police said the two accidentally fell into a pond near their house while playing on its bank and drowned on Monday afternoon.

Later, villagers recovered the bodies from the pond after a hectic search, said Monsur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station.

On September 24, two minor cousins drowned in a ditch at Shibnagar village in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur.
