Two construction workers electrocuted

Two construction workers were electrocuted at Narayanganj city's Naluapara area on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Raju Hossain (22) and Farhad Hossain (18), said Mazaharul Islam, officer of Narayanganj's Mandalpara station of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.

"On information, we rushed to the spot and found that two workers were electrocuted. They were rushed to hospital where on-duty doctors declared them dead," he added.

The officer said there was no safety measures in the under-construction building.

However, a group of youths identifying themselves as follower of a local Chhatra League leader physically assaulted journalists when newsmen went to Narayanganj General Hospital to cover the incident that night.

Contacted, Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) said legal action would be taken if the victims' family members filed any compliant.

Building contractor Md Kabir denied to talk to media.
