Transport worker jailed for carrying fake licence

Mobile courts of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority yesterday jailed a transport worker for one month, filed 43 cases against vehicle owners and fined them over Tk 1 lakh during drives to bring discipline to traffic in Chattogram city.

The courts also seized fake documents of nine vehicles during the drives conducted in Kazir Dewri, Customs and Badamtali intersection areas, said a BRTA press release.

A court filed 12 cases and fined Tk 77,500 in Kazir Dewri area. Another court jailed transport worker Saiful Islam for one month for carrying fake licence. It  realised Tk 69,500 as fine from vehicles and lodged the rest cases for violating traffic rules. Another court fined vehicles Tk 44,400 in Badamtali Bayezid area.
