Transfers in land ministry to be based on lottery: minister

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury yesterday said transfer and posting of land service officials will be on the basis of lottery, according to a press release.

He said they took the decision to ensure transparency and accountability in ministry activities and prevent lobbying and corruption.

The minister was speaking at an event, organised to launch the lottery system at the secretariat. In the first phase, 548 newly-promoted land officials will be brought under the system.

“We want to do it so that there will be unquestionable transparency in the process of posting, transferring and other official activities,” said Saifuzzaman.
