Traffic cop killed in Ctg

An on-duty traffic sergeant of Chattogram Metropolitan Police was killed in a road accident in port city’s Halishahar Toll Road area yesterday evening.

The deceased is Bakshi Md Abdullah, 30, from Kurigram. He joined the force in 2015.

Alake Biswas, additional deputy commissioner (traffic) of Bandar Zone, said a speeding covered van hit Bakshi’s bike around 5:30pm.

After he fell down, Bakshi was hit by another covered van, injuring him critically.

Locals and patrol police rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:30pm, the ADC said.

Police seized the two vans but their drivers managed to escape, he added.
