Traffic cop beats Covid-19 in Ctg

After beating Covid-19, a traffic constable of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) was released from Chattogram General Hospital yesterday.

Constable Arun Chakma was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 19 and was admitted to the hospital's isolation unit, said CMP sources. He is attached with Traffic North Division.

Arun is the first Covid-19 patient of CMP who recovered from the contagious disease, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC, Public Relation) Abu Bakkar Siddique.

Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner (DC) of Traffic North Division, said he had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for 14 days and was released after finally testing negative.

Arun was accorded a floral reception from CMP Commissioner Mahabubor Rahaman and other senior CMP officials after he arrived at Dampara CMP Police Lines around 1pm.

Commissioner Mahabubor said Arun's recovery will strengthen and motivate other Covid-19 patients to beat the virus.

According to CMP, 11 police personnel have been infected with coronavirus so far. Seven of them are from Traffic North Division. Apart from that, the wife of an officer had tested positive.
