Holey Artisan Case

Three more prosecution witnesses testify

Three more prosecution witnesses yesterday gave their statements before a Dhaka tribunal in the Holey Artisan Café attack case.

Including them, the tribunal recorded statements of 103 out of 211 prosecution witnesses in the case.

The witnesses are Dhaka Medical College Forensic Medicine department’s Associate Prof Sohel Mahmud, and lecturers Prodib Biswas and Kabir Sohel.

Judge Majibur Rahman of the Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal of Dhaka recorded statements of the witnesses after which defence lawyers cross-examined them.

The tribunal set September 3 for the next hearing.

Sohel Mahmud told the court, a three-member medical board led by him performed the postmortems of 26 people in connection with the Holey Artisan Café attack on July 3, 2016.

“Besides, I conducted the autopsies of AC Robiul Karim [of DB] and OC Salauddin Khan [of Banani Police Station] on July 2, and a man named Shawon on July 9,” he said.

Robiul and Salauddin Khan died after splinters hit them, Sohel said.

Eight accused, now in jail, were produced before the tribunal during yesterday’s hearing.
