Three dead on the road in Dhaka

A motorcyclist and a pillion rider were killed when their bike was hit by an unidentified four wheeler in Mirpur's Beribadh area in Dhaka on Sunday night.

The deceased are Abdur Razzak, 46, and Jahidur Rahman Dulu, 42, said Officer-in-Charge of Rupnagar Police Station, Sheikh Md Shah Alam.

They were returning to their homes in Beribadh area from Savar, where they worked. The unidentified vehicle hit their motorbike and fled the scene around 10:30pm.

The duo was rushed to Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in critical state and  the doctors there declared them dead around 11:30pm, the OC added.

Meanwhile, an unidentified person was declared dead yesterday morning after being brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by Banani police.

The deceased was lying on the road in front of Army Stadium in a critical condition around 6:00am when locals informed the police.

He was declared dead by doctors at DMCH around 7:15am, Sub-Inspector (SI) Bachchu Mia of Dhaka Medical College Police Outpost told The Daily Star.

“The deceased was hit and left on the road in early hours in the morning,” the SI added quoting Banani police.
