Three BNP leaders sent to jail

A Chattogram court yesterday rejected the bail petitions and sent three BNP leaders to jail in connection with a case filed over planning subversive activities ahead of the December 30 election.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossen Mridha passed the order after Boalkhali Municipality Mayor Abul Kalam, and local BNP leaders Mohsin Khokan and Md Yeasin appeared before the court and sought extension of bail in the case.

The case was filed with Chandgaon Police Station in November last year, after the three were found with explosives in possession, said Public Prosecutor Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury.

Earlier, they secured eight weeks interim bail from the High Court in connection with the case, the PP also said.
