Talented young people have to lead the fight against drugs

IGP tells students

Terming drugs a major obstacle to building a healthy society, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary yesterday urged meritorious young people to come forward to lead the movement against it.

Addressing a programme marking distribution of stipend among meritorious children of members of Bangladesh Police at PSC Convention Hall, the IGP said police have also declared a war on drugs. “The movement against drugs will have to be spread everywhere. Talented young people will have to come forward to lead this movement,” he said.

A total of 201 students who obtained GPA-5 in HSC and equivalent examinations as well as A Grade in three subjects in A-level exams in 2018 were given stipends at the event.

The IGP gave away crests, certificates and cash among the recipients.

Chiefs of police units in Dhaka, senior officers, guardians of students and their family members were present at the programme.
