Sylhet trader found dead at home

Housemate on the run

A trader was found dead inside his house in Sylhet city early yesterday.

The deceased -- Sahabuddin Miah, 40 -- used to run a fruit store in the city's Madina Market area, said his shop supervisor Rubel Miah.

Sahabuddin and another fruit shop owner Rahman Miah used to live in a rented house in the area, he said.

Their employees usually have meals in the house thrice a day in exchange of payment, he added.

“After closing shops around 1am, we all went to the house to dine. When we left, Sahabuddin and Rahman were inside the house as usual,” he said.

“In the morning, another colleague of ours found the door open. Sahabuddin was lying on the floor with head injuries.”

Locals took Sahabuddin to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Rubel Miah.

Zedan Al Musa, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said they are looking for Rahman Miah who is on the run.

Victim's brother Sajjad Miah filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station, accusing unnamed persons, said Officer-in-Charge Selim Miah. The body was sent to the medical college morgue for autopsy.
