Sylhet city chief health official covid positive for second time

Sylhet City Corporation's (SCC) Chief Health Officer Dr Jahidul Islam has been diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) for a second time, six months after he was first infected with the virus.

Earlier on July 24, he, along with his parents and spouse were diagnosed with coronavirus. Later, his father Prof Nazrul Islam died of the virus on August 13.

After sampling on Sunday, he was tested positive Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College's lab on Tuesday night, Dr Jahidul confirms.

After showing signs several symptoms for a couple of days, he sent his swab sample on Sunday for test for covid-19 and resulted positive for the second time on Tuesday night.

He is now undergoing treatment at Mount Adora Hospital in the city.However, there is a debate among researchers on if a person can be infected with Covid-19 again after recovery; few people around the world and in Bangladesh have reported to be infected for second time.
