Supreme Court Day to be held on Dec 18

The “Supreme Court Day” will be observed on December 18, marking the commencement of its journey in 1972.

A discussion, blood donation programme and screening of a documentary film will be held at the Supreme Court Judges' Sports Complex, said Barrister Md Saifur Rahman, special officer of the SC, yesterday.

President Abdul Hamid has given his consent to attend the discussion as the chief guest, Barrister Saifur said, adding that Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain will preside over the meeting and Law Minister Anisul Huq will attend as special guest.

Last year, the SC authorities decided to observe the day on December 18 every year, as the SC started its first judicial functions on December 18, 1972.
