Spanish delegation for raising global awareness

A Spanish delegation, which visited refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, has stressed the importance of raising awareness about the Rohingya situation in the global community, and highlighted the commitment to finding solutions.

A representative of the Humanitarian Office of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Ana Bernardo Rodríguez, visited various projects in the refugee camps on October 17 and 18.

During the visit, she met with the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner and saw first-hand the difficult conditions under which the refugees are living and services provided to them in Kutupalong, Goyalmara and Unchiprang.

The Spanish official also visited key humanitarian aid projects including UNHCR Transit Centre, MSF Kutupalong Hospital, Goyalmara Mother and Child Care Hospital, Unchiprang Primary Health Centre, Plan International alternative education and child protection in emergencies activities, IOM mental health and psycho-social support.

Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Spain in Dhaka, Alejandra López García, also accompanied the AECID official, said a press release.

Earlier, the Inter Sector Coordination Group welcomed the Spanish delegation and noted that their presence demonstrates an on-going commitment to the welfare of the refugees and the Bangladeshi host community.
