Son kills mother over dispute in Sylhet

An elderly woman was allegedly killed by her son after an altercation at Doloipara village in Sylhet Sadar upazila on Monday night.

The deceased Premlata Bauri (60) was a resident of the village. Her son Dipu Bauri (30) is on the run.

Quoting locals, Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Shahporan Police Station, said, “Premlata and Dipu used to live in a house at the village. On Monday, they had a quarrel over some family matters. Her son, at one point, hit her with a piece of steel, killing her on the spot.”

On information, police recovered her body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
