Son held for killing father

Police yesterday arrested a youth for killing his father and injuring his mother and elder brother in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.

The arrestee was identified as Naquib Hasan Hridoy, 18, said Abu Bakar Miah, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.

Hridoy killed his father Abdul Hye, by stabbing and hitting him in the head with a rod, the OC said quoting family members.

When his mother and brother came to stop him, Hridoy also injured both of them with the rod.

Hridoy has been mentally imbalanced for the last four or five years, locals said. He was detained by the neighbours and handed over to police.  

Meanwhile, Abdul Hye was taken to Kaliganj upazila health complex where he was declared dead.
