Shamim Osman's bodyguard transferred for rule violation

Narayanganj lawmaker Shamim Osman's bodyguard was transferred to Kishoreganj for violating service rules.

The bodyguard, Constable Md Mamun Fakir accompanied Shamim Osman's son and his friend to Cox's Bazar for four days till March 17 with arms, without approval from the authorities. This was a violation of service rules, police sources said.

Subas Chandra Saha, additional superintendent of police in Narayanganj, informed that Dhaka Range DIG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun issued the order yesterday morning.

Following an allegation, a probe committee was formed and asked to submit a report within three days, he said.

As the allegation of irregularities were proven, the committee recommended departmental action against the constable.

During the period when the constable went to Cox's Bazar, MP Shamim Osman had stayed at his constituency without a bodyguard, which could be a safety threat.

Mamun started working as Osman's bodyguard in 2013.
