Sgt Zahurul Haque’s 52nd death anniversary

Today is the 52nd death anniversary of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque.

Zahurul, an accused of Agartala conspiracy case, was killed by Pakistan military on February 15, 1969, said a press release.

Following the killing, the movement demanding unconditional release of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other arrestees in the case got a momentum.

On the day of his killing, students of Dhaka University renamed Iqbal Hall to Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.

After the independence of Bangladesh, the Chattogram base of the Air Force was also named after him.
