Seven-year-old 'raped' in Savar, neighbour arrested

Police yesterday arrested a youth on the charge of raping a 7-year-old girl in Joynabari area of Savar, outside the capital.

The arrestee -- Fahim Sheikh, 18 -- is a neighbour of the girl.

The youth lured the girl to his house and raped her there around 9:15pm on Saturday when her parents were outside home, Savar Model Police Station Sub-inspector Pran Krishna quoted the family as saying.

The girl's father filed a case with the police station against the youth yesterday, said the SI.

Following the case, the law enforcers raided the area and attested Fahim, said the police officer.

The girl was taken to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, said police.
