Seven killed in road accidents

Seven people, including two minors, were killed in separate road accidents in Naogaon, Nilphamari, and Noakhali on Sunday, report our correspondents.

In Naogaon Sadar upazila, two minors  among three were killed when a bus ran over them near Bot Tola area of Naogaon-Rajshahi highway early morning. All three were waiting to board a bus.

Of the three, Adori Begum (35), and her daughter Shompa (6), died on the spot while Sumi (8) died from injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Police seized the bus but the driver and helper managed to escape. A case was filed with Naogaon Sadar Police Station in this regard.

Meanwhile in Noakhali, Sharifuzzaman Didar (40), a traders’ leader, and his brother-in-law Asif Iqbal (32), sustained critical injuries after their motorcycle collided head-on with an unidentified microbus on Dimla-Jaldhaka road in Dimla upazila around 8pm.

Locals rushed them to Dimla Upazila Health Complex where Sharif succumbed to his injuries, Mofizuddin Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Dimla Police Station, informed The Daily Star.

In Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali, three men died on the spot in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and bus in Bojra Bazar area around 11pm.

The deceased was identified as Tipu, Jabed, and Harun, Officer-in-Charge of Sonaimuri Police Station Abdus Salam told this newspaper. Another injured, Mashuk, was taken to Noakhali General Hospital in a critical condition.
