Seven burnt in fire at automobile workshop in Dhaka's Tejgaon-Gulshan Link Road area

At least seven persons were burnt in a fire at an automobile workshop in Dhaka's Tejgaon-Gulshan Link Road area this afternoon.

The injured were taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.

They are: Sakibul Islam Shimul, 25, junior technician of the Maple Lead International Workshop; three employees Jewel, 32, Rabiul Islam, 24, Suman, 20; and three private car drivers Ali Akbar, 52, Haider Ali, 25, and Rubel Hawlader, 27.

The employees were in the workshop while the drivers were standing nearby when a car caught fire around 1:00pm, said Habibur Rahman, servicing manager of the workshop.

The fire spread swiftly, burning the seven persons, he added. 

Hospital sources said Akbar, Rabiul, Jewel, Rubel were admitted as they sustained 14 to 20 percent burns while the three others were released after treatment.

Warehouse inspector Shahidul Islam of Tejgaon Fire Station said, on information, they rushed to the workshop but the fire was doused by this time.

"We heard that six to seven persons were injured in the fire," he said.
