Security beefed up in KCC ahead of Eid

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has taken a number of steps to beef up security and keep vehicular movement smooth for holidaymakers ahead of Eid-ul Fitr.

“We have taken a four tier security measure to control the law and order and avoid any untoward situation in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) areas,” said SK Moniruzzaman Mithue, additional deputy police commissioner of KMP.

All eight police stations in KCC have been deployed along with the local policing committee to control law and order situation, he added.

In addition, two strong Quick Response Teams will remain alert to tackle any untoward situation in the area, said Moniruzzaman.

At least 2,200 police personnel will be deployed in the city, while hundred close circuit cameras (CCTV) and 21 check posts have also been set up at different major points, he also said.

No illegal parking would be allowed in KCC areas during the next four days. Police vigilance will be enhanced at important markets, banks and stations, Moniruzzaman said, adding businessmen have been requested to take police assistance while carrying money from one place to another.

“We request city dwellers to stay alert during Eid vacation and close the windows and main entrances of their houses before going out, the police official added.
