Road crashes kill three

At least three persons were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in two districts yesterday.

In Tangail, former school headteacher Motiur Rahman, 85, and his wife Asia Khatoon, 75 were killed and three others were injured following a head-on collision between a truck and a battery-run auto-rickshaw on Sakhipur-Gopinpur road in Sakhipur upazila, said police.

The accident left five persons, including the couple, seriously injured. Locals took them to a hospital where doctors declared the couple dead.

Meanwhile in Gopalganj, farmer Monoj Podder, 40, was killed after a motorbike ran him over on Gopalganj-Takerhat road in Sadar upazila, reports our correspondent.

His body was sent to a local hospital for an autopsy.
