Road crashes kill 4

At least four people were killed in road accidents in three districts during the last two days, BSS and UNB report.

In Dhaka, CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Md Ali, 50, was killed as a covered van hit his vehicle in Rayerbagh Bus Stand area yesterday morning, said police.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition where the doctors declared him dead.

The body was sent to the medical college morgue for autopsy.

In Narayanganj, police constable Arif Hossain, 25, was killed on the spot as a truck hit his motorbike at Lalati in Sonargaon yesterday, said police.

Arif was appointed at Narayanganj Police Lines and was going to Araihazar upazila.

Filing of a case was underway, they added.

In Lalmonirhat, a couple was killed on spot after a truck hit the auto-rickshaw carrying them at Parulia Bazar Point in Hatibandha upazila around 10pm on Saturday, said police.

The deceased are Mostafa Hossain, 25, and his wife Rahela Begum, 20.

The accident occurred while the couple was returning home. On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and later handed them over to their relatives.

A general diary was filed in this connection with Hatibandha Police Station, they added.
