Road accidents kill 4, injure 25

Four people were killed and 25 injured in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondent and a news agency.

In Narayanganj, two people were killed instantly and at least 20 injured after a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Araihazar around 6pm, reports our local correspondent.

The deceased are Noor Alam (30) and Shahidul Haque (55).

Quoting witnesses, Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police Station, said when the bus of Meghaloy Paribahan reached the upazila’s Purinda area, the driver lost control over the vehicle and plunged into the ditch.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to different hospitals. Bodies of the deceased were sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

BSS reports, two people were killed on the spot after a bus and truck collided at Sholagari Point in Pirganj upazila in Rangpur around 4:30am, said police.

The deceased are Yakub Ali (20), helper of the truck, and cattle trader Hannan Mian (33). Five passengers of the bus sustained minor injuries and went home after receiving first-aid at the upazila health complex.

On information, police rushed to the spot, seized the vehicles, recovered the bodies and took them to Pirganj Police Station.

Hannan’s brother filed a case with the police station.
