Road accidents kill 4 in Dhaka

Four people were killed in separate road accidents in the capital yesterday.

In Shanir Akhra, two persons were killed after a truck ran over them around 4:30am, said police.

The deceased were identified as Bashar, 35, helper of the truck's driver, and Harunur Rashid, 55, owner of a house in the area.

After unloading bricks from the truck beside Rashid's house, Bashar was standing in front of the vehicle for payment, said Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Kadamtoli Police Station.

When Rashid was paying him, all on a sudden, another truck hit the stationed vehicle from behind, which ran over the duo. Rashid died on the spot, while Bashar was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

In another incident, Shahin, 22, an on-duty Ansar member, died at DMCH after being hit by a truck on Bangladesh National Zoo Road in Mirpur, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, Ripon, 38, a garment worker, died when a microbus hit him while crossing Kalshi Road at Mirpur-11, it added.
