Another dies as train hits her

Four people were killed in road accidents and another died as a train hit her in three districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents and a news agency.

Our Tangail correspondent reports, a man was killed when a bus hit him on Bangabandhu Bridge East Link Road in Soratoil area early yesterday, said Mosharaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station.

Sekandar Hossain, 40, from Nikla Doripara village in Bhuapur upazila, died on the spot, said the OC.

In another accident, a train hit a woman while she was crossing Joydevpur-Bangabandhu Bridge rail track in Jokarchar area of the district, leaving her dead, said the police officer.

The identity of the woman could not be known immediately, he said.

Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, a rickshaw-van puller was killed as a motorbike hit him in Alampur village of Khetlal upazila in Joypurhat.

Rabbi Fakir, 27, from Banaich village in Khetlal, died on the way to Khetlal Upazila Health Complex, said police.

UNB from Chapainawabganj reports, a man was killed as a truck collided head-on with another fish-laden truck in Rahanpur of Gomostapur area.

Mojibur Rahman, 45, who was on the fish laden vehicle, died on the spot, said Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station.

In another incident, a pickup hit a motorcyclist, Shafiqul Islam, 50, in Shibganj area, killing him instantly, said police.
