With the promise of promoting fresh and innovative export ideas, the third season of Rise High Bangladesh contest held its campus activation programme at Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday.

The activation at JU drew a sizeable turnout. Students looked on curiously at the events going on at the university as volunteers explained the contest to them.

Rise High Bangladesh is an initiative of The Daily Star and Crown Cement.

The event on the JU campus started at 9:00am in the university's central cafeteria and went on till 5:00pm. The programme area was decorated with banners and posters containing information of the contest, while volunteers also elaborated on the objectives, incentives and rules of participation to students.

A puzzle-solving game was arranged beside the booth, which attracted the biggest crowd. Participants were asked to pick a card, containing export information of an unnamed country, which they had to identify correctly. The winners were given token gifts.

Md Ashikunnabi, a first-year student of the economics department, after winning the puzzle-solving contest, said, “This contest inspires me to know more about export geography of the world. I am planning to submit a project on clay products.”

Another student of the same department, Uzzal, expressed his interest to submit a craft-related export idea.

Prof Bashir Ahmed, director of Teachers-Students Centre, said Rise High Bangladesh will help motivate students to think out of the conservative and traditional views.

Earlier, two activations were also held at Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) and Brac University on Sunday and Monday respectively.
