Research paper on Rohingyas presented at KU

History and Civilization Discipline of Khulna University (KU) yesterday organised a programme where Dr Mesbah Kamal, a history professor at Dhaka University, presented his research paper on Rohingya crisis.

Titled, “The Rohingyas: Identity Crisis, Migration, Repatriation and Geopolitics”, the paper sheds light on different geopolitical aspects of persecution of the Rohingyas and their influx into Bangladesh.  

In order to flee persecution in their homeland in Myanmar, most of the Rohingya refugees arrived in Bangladesh without any valid identification documents. Hence, a large number of them may not be able to produce any documentation that might be required for their return to Myanmar, said Dr Mesbah.

Dr Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman, vice chancellor of KU; Prof Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh, treasurer of KU; and Dr Sabiha Haq, professor of English Discipline; were present at the programme.
