A section of Chittagong University teachers yesterday protested Tuesday's incident of removing the name plaque of university's Khaleda Zia Hall, allegedly by some Chhatra League activists.

The pro-BNP-Jamaat "white" panel teachers in a statement said a quarter with vested interest is trying to create unrest on the campus and the act was part of that plan.

They demanded that the university authorities punish the miscreants and reinstall the plaque immediately.

On December 4, around 20 to 25 CU unit BCL men dismantled the hall's name plaque in the afternoon and demanded that the dormitory be named after Taramon Bibi, Bir Protik, according to witnesses.

The university authorities are looking into the matter.
