RCC relaunches City Hospital today

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) in partnership with Celltron Electro Manufacturing Services will relaunch the 25-bed City Hospital today on completion of a project to modernise and renovate the healthcare facility.

RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton announced it in a press conference at Nagar Bhaban yesterday.

The hospital building was used as the civil surgeon’s office and urban dispensary till 2000, when the city corporation took it over and launched outdoor services naming it Sramajibi Hospital.

In 2002, the corporation established a 20-bed hospital and named it City Hospital.

The mayor said they were incurring a loss of Tk 90 lakh annually. Now, they joined hands with the medical equipment manufacturing company in a bid to avoid loss.

RCC signed an agreement with Celltron on May 6 to jointly run the hospital for three years, he added.

Modern medical equipment, doctors’ chambers, five additional beds and three air-conditioned cabins were added to the hospital at a cost of Tk 2.5 crore. provided by Celltron. Under the three-year agreement, Celltron will pay Tk 50 lakh to RCC, said the mayor.

Addressing the press conference, Celltron Managing Director Sheikh Mohammad Faujul Mubin said daily rent of a bed will be Tk 300 while of a cabin, Tk 3,000.

Mayor Khairuzzaman said the hospital would provide free treatment to at least ten percent of the patients.
