Raisul Haq Bahar no more

Veteran freedom fighter and journalist AKM Raisul Haq Bahar died of cardiac arrest last night.

He breathed his last at the age of 66 at a private hospital in the port city at 11.00pm.

Bahar was a guerilla commander and led many operations during the Liberation War.

He served as bureau chief of The Daily Star of Chittagong. A former accountant of Chittagong Port, Bahar started his career in journalism with local daily Sebok in the '80s.

Dr Susanto Barua, his family doctor said Bahar had a minor cardiac arrest at office of local Daily Purbokone, where he worked as associate editor. He was rushed to Max Hospital, where he suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Chittagong Port premise after Zuhr prayers today.
