Rab arrests three 'JMB members'

Rapid Action Battalion in separate drives at Shiddhirganj in Narayanganj and Demra in Dhaka has arrested three suspected operatives of banned militant outfit JMB.

It also recovered arms, ammunition, militant books and leaflets from the arrestees.

Rab-11 Commander Russel Ahmed Kabir disclosed the information at a press conference at its headquarters in Adamjee yesterday noon.

The elite force arrested Rezaul Karim, 28, of Kaunia area in Barisal, and Zahirul Islam Palash of Bakerganj in Barisal as they were holding a secret meeting at Madani Nagar in Siddhirganj on Sunday evening. They recovered a pistol two bullets, a knife, a large number of militant books and leaflets from their possession.

Based on information gleaned from the two, Rab raided Pashchim Hajinagar area in Demra and arrested Shahnaz Akter Sadika, 25, from Faridganj in Chandpur.

Rab said the arrestees during  primary interrogation admitted to being JMB operatives.

Legal action will be taken against them, the Rab commander said.
