Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was moved to a cabin from the intensive care unit (ICU) of Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital yesterday as his health condition has improved.

The minister underwent a successful bypass surgery on March 20.

Prof Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), who accompanied the minister to Singapore, yesterday said Quader was shifted to a cabin at 4pm local time (2pm Bangladesh Standard Time).

Sheikh Walid Foyez, information officer of the Bridge Division, said this in a release.

“He [Quader] is doing well. His pressure and diabetes are under control at present,” Prof Rizvi informed Quader's family members and others at the hospital's lobby, quoting doctors.

The Awami League general secretary was initially admitted to BSMMU on March 3, following breathing complications. Tests revealed three blockages in his coronary artery. He was flown to Singapore the next day for better treatment.
