Protests spread across DU demanding justice for writer Mushtaq’s death in police custody

Two separate protests took place on the Dhaka University campus today demanding justice for writer Mushtaq Ahmed's death in police custody.

Leaders of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front blamed the government for Mustaq's death from a rally held in front of Raju Memorial Sculpture in Dhaka University at 10:30am today.

"Writer Mushtaq has died in police custody. His death was unnatural and he was killed and the government is responsible for it," said Al Kaderi, president of the Front.

Meanwhile, leaders of a left-wing student group blocked Shahbagh intersection demanding justice for Mushtaq at 11:00am today.

"Mushtaq's lawyer appealed for bail after his health conditioned worsened…Finally Mushtaq died. This government has enacted the Digital Security Act to keep protesting people silent," said Zahid Sujon, general secretary of Chhatra Federation.
