Prof Kazi Shahidullah new UGC chair

Dhaka University Professor Kazi Shahidullah has been appointed chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) for the next four years.

The education ministry issued a circular yesterday in this regard.

Shahidullah, a supernumerary professor of history at DU, and former VC of National University, will replace Prof Abdul Mannan, whose tenure ended on May 7. UGC member Prof Md Yousuf Ali Mollah was carrying out duties as chairman of the statutory apex body of higher education.

Shahidullah’s appointment order will be effective from his joining date to the post, said the circular.
