13 Lakh Yaba Haul in Ctg

Prime accused arrested in Dhaka

Chattogram detectives have arrested a fugitive prime accused of a case filed over a huge yaba haul, at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Rezwan alias Ridwan alias Jubayer, 55, was trying to flee to Malaysia on Wednesday, said SM Mostain Hossain, a deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

On May 4, detectives seized 13 lakh yaba pills from a house in the port city's Halishahar area and arrested two siblings -- Ashraf Ali, 47, and Hasan, 22. Soon after the case was filed with Halishahar Police Station, Ridwan went into hiding, said DB sources.

On Ashraf's confession, police later arrested one Rashed alias Munna, 35. In their confessional statements, both of them mentioned Ridwan as the kingpin of the yaba.

At a press conference in Laldighi DB office yesterday, DC Mostain said Ridwan is one of the “godfathers” of yaba and also a syndicate member of international drug syndicate.
