President leaves for Tajikistan

President Abdul Hamid left for Tajikistan on a seven-day official visit yesterday.

He will attend the 5th Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), to be held in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, on June 14 and 15.

A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the president took off from Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4pm.

The president’s wife Rashida Khanom and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen are accompanying him during the visit.

The cabinet secretary, chiefs of three services, dean of diplomatic corps, senior civil and military officials saw the president off at the airport.

He will be received by senior Tajik officials at Dushanbe International Airport at 10:10pm local zwtime. He is also scheduled to visit Uzbekistan. The president will return home on June 19.
