Pradhikar deworms stray dogs in Sylhet

Pradhikar, an animal rights organisation of Sylhet Agriculture University, ran 'Deworming of Stray Canines' campaign in the university and surrounding areas yesterday.

The initiative was taken as part of weeklong programmes marking World Wildlife Day 2019 and more than thirty street dogs were dewormed.

A team, led by Pradhikar's vice president Mahdi Rahi and joint secretary Jahid Hossain, started the deworming campaign at around 9am from the university's Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences Faculty. The campaign also covered stray canines of Nayabazar and Baluchar areas of the city.

“There is no 'Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Release (CNVR)' project of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) but such a project would be useful for controlling the number of dogs as well as prevent canine diseases,” he said, urging SCC to initiate a CNVR programme.
