Police evacuate five-storey building in port city after it tilts

Police evacuated all the residents of a five-storey building at Enayetbazar-Gowalpara area in the port city after it tilted around 9:00pm last night, our Chattogram correspondent reports.

The building owned by one Kartik Ghosh suddenly slanted three to four feet as workers were piling in the yard, said Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, adding, on information, police rushed to the spot.

"We have informed the matter to Chattogram Development Authority, who gave the permission to construct the structure in the city, and asked them to investigate it," he said.
