Papia and her husband made Tk 6.24 crore illegally: ACC

Expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League's Narsingdi unit Shamima Nur Papia and her husband made Tk 6.24 crore illegally, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found in its investigation. 

On August 4 last year, ACC Deputy Director Shahin Ara Momtaz filed a case against Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman alias Sumon Chowdhury alias Moti Sumon on charges of acquiring wealth illegally.

Talking to journalists, ACC's secretary Dr Md Anwar Hossain Howlader said if the court finds them guilty, the duo might be sentenced to minimum three years to maximum 10 years' punishment.

"Their wealth can also be forfeited," he further said.

In October last year, a Special Tribunal-1 of Dhaka sentenced Papia and her husband to 27 years' rigorous imprisonment in an arms case.
