The youth arrested yesterday has confessed to torching a police vehicle during violence near BNP’s Nayapaltan office back in November last year.

Wasim, 28, gave confessional statement to Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim today and said he was offered Tk 500 for such works.

He was arrested from Pallabi Bihari camp in a lawsuit filed over torching an Awami League election camp in Mirpur.

Investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Munshi Shahidul Islam presented him before the magistrate at his chamber, sources said.

Wasim said he was offered money by a low-profile BNP leader.

The magistrate sent Wasim to jail after recording his confessional statement for over three hours.

Counting him in, 14 people have been arrested so far in connection to the cases over assaulting police, setting fire and vandalising police vehicles.
