Online licencing process for tea traders launched

Bangladesh Tea Board (BTB) yesterday launched online services enabling guests to make reservations for the Tea Resort and Museum in Sylhet's Sreemangal while allowing tea traders to submit applications for various licences.

Maj Gen Md Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman, chairman of BTB, rolled out the online services at BTB conference room in the port city.

From now on, anyone from home and abroad will be able to book the bungalow at the resort in Sreemangal on the online reservation system, he said.

Similarly, tea traders, bidders, blenders, exporters and importers will also be able to apply for their licences from the comfort of their offices or homes, he added.

BTB members Golam Mowla, Irfan Sharif, Secretary Nurullah Nuri and other officials were present at the launching programme.

Contacted, Madhul Kabir Chowdhury, deputy director (commercial) of BTB, said they had been issuing all sorts of licences to retailers, wholesalers, bidders, blenders, importers and exporters after they applied for those by mail or by visiting the BTB office.

With the introduction of the online services, the entire licencing process including receiving application and collecting relevant fees will be done online and upon approval, the licences will be mailed to the applicants, he also said.
