Obaidul Huq’s death anniv today

Today is the 12th death anniversary of Obaidul Huq, a prominent journalist, says a press release.

He died at his Banani residence in 2007, aged 96.

Obaidul was editor of The Bangladesh Observer for 12 years since 1972. He obtained his master’s degree in philosophy from Dhaka University and completed LLB from Calcutta University.

In 1946, he made feature film “Dukkhhe Jader Jibon Gora”.

He was chairman of Press Institute of Bangladesh and Dainik Bangla.

Obaidul received “Ekushey Padak” in 1983 and Bangla Academy Award in 1964. He also got Unicef Gold Medal for journalism.
