No parade on Victory Day this year

Says home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said tight security measures will be in place for smooth celebrations of Victory Day, on December 16.

He made the remarks while presiding over a meeting on Victory Day celebrations at his office. Chiefs and senior officials of all law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.

The home minister said members of law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant to thwart any unwanted situation. “There'll be no parade this year as the national election activities will be underway during that time,” he said.

The National Memorial premises at Savar will remain under surveillance of CCTV cameras to ensure full-proof security, Asaduzzaman said.

Besides, stringent security arrangements have been taken to celebrate Victory Day in district towns across the country. “Adequate law enforcers will be deployed to fend off any unwanted incident,” he said.
